Russian-American
soprano, Zhanna Alkhazova, is known for her sizable voice with a warm and distinguishable color. Ms. Alkhazova’s operatic
credits include Musetta in La Bohème, Antonia in Les Contes
d’Hoffmann, First and Second Lady in Die Zauberflöte, Berta in Il Barbiere
di Siviglia, Ludmilla in The Bartered Bride, Poppea in L’incoronazione di Poppea, Dido in Dido
and Aeneas, Infirmiera and La Badessa in Suor Angelica, Tatiana in Eugene Onegin and Donna Elvira
in Don Giovanni. Other roles in her repertoire include Countess (Le nozze di Figaro), Ellen Offord (Peter
Grimes), Micaela (Carmen), Liza (Queen of Spades), Marguerite (Faust) and Bess (Porgy
and Bess). Ms. Alkhazova has performed with Opera Boston, Boston Lyric Opera, Opera Providence
and most recently was an Apprentice Artist with Des Moines Metro Opera. Ms. Alkhazova
was the winner of the Rhode Island NATS Competition and a finalist in the Lakes Region Opera Competition. She was the recipient
of the Robert P. Manero Award and the Samuel Vaillancourt Folk Art Memorial Scholarship. She was chosen to participate in
the 2010 International “Nightingale” singing Competition in Kalinigrad, Russia. A native of Moscow, Russia, Ms. Alkhazova is a long time resident of the Northeast. She currently studies with Diana
Soviero in New York City.
