Rising soprano Zhanna Alkhazova has most recently made her debut in the title role of Turandot with NJ Verismo Opera. In her young career, she has already made a positive impression on critics and audiences alike. Of her performance in the title role as Manon Lescaut, James Jorden of the NY Observer wrote:

“ the Manon, Zhanna Alkhazova, flaunted a cool, silvery soprano with a high C whose poise Anna Netrebko might envy. What’s more, she made the unlikely “love at first sight” plot point in the first act utterly believable with the sort of beguiling flashing glances one reads about but seldom sees outside of an Ava Gardner film.”

Her voice has been described as sultry” and “rich with power to spare”, “an instrument capable of heart-stopping mastery.”

This season, she has made her Sarasota Opera debut in the title role of Manon Lescaut, stepping in for an ailing colleague. Next, she is scheduled to make her Sarasota Festival of Vocal Arts debut singing excerpts from Manon Lescaut. This fall she will return to perform with Russian Chamber Art Society in Washington, DC.
